The FAW Futsal Cup 2013 will begin next month!
The New Saints who made their only ever appearance in the UEFA Futsal Cup, back in 2011 have once again got an exciting side and along with Cardiff City Futsal Club, the pair will be two of the most feared sides in the competition. The Oswestry based Saints have received a bye which will mean that they do not have to take part in the qualifying round.
The qualifying round will begin on Sunday the 3rd of February and it will make sure that 12 northern sides progress into the regionals.
The NEWFA Qualifying Round will include four teams. The four teams that will be attempting to win a place in the regionals are Druids Sports Social Club, Glactilos, Glyndwr University and Plas Madoc AVOW. The games will be played at Glyndwr University, from 9am until 1pm. The games will be two halves of fifteen minute periods with a rolling clock (the teams will play three games). The top two teams will qualify for the North Wales Regionals.
The NWCFA Qualifying Round will include three teams. The three teams will include Amlwch Town, Meliden Glan and Conwy. The games will be played at Bangor University, from 10am until 1pm. The games will be two halves of 20 minute periods with a rolling clock (the teams will play two games). The top two teams qualify for the North Wales Regionals.
There will therefore be eight byes into the regionals. The teams that have received byes are Cefn Druids, Cunliffe Arms, Newtown, Saltney Town, The New Saints, Whitegates Dynamite, Wrexham Futsal and Wrexham Lager.
The North Wales Regionals will take place on Sunday the 17th of February at Bangor University, with Football being played from 9.00am until 6pm. The 12 sides will be split into three groups of four as they compete against each other for a place in the National Finals. The games will be two halves of 20minute periods with a rolling clock. The top team in each group will qualify for the National Finals.
The National Finals will take the three Group Winners from the Northern Regionals and the three Group Winners from the Southern Regionals and they will play in two groups of three, followed by the Semi-Final and Finals.
The FAW Futsal Cup Finals will take place on Sunday the 24th of March at the House of Sport in Cardiff. The times are TBC. The six teams that will be participating will be split into two groups of three teams and the top two of each group will progress into the Semi-Finals. The games will once again be two halves of 20minute periods with a rolling clock.
