The New Saints outclassed Port Talbot Town after scoring five goals in a match for the second time this week, thanks to a brace from inform striker Mike Wilde and goals from Alex Darlington, Greg Draper and Ryan Fraughan.
The Saints, who were playing their third game of what has been a hectic week, took the lead midway through the half after Wilde was the quickest to react to Fraughan’s fantastic shot that had rattled the post. The former Fleetwood man pounced on the loose ball and coolly converted from close range.
Moments later, Darlington doubled the lead. Once again, Fraughan was in the middle of the action and it was his ball that released Simon Spender down the right, only for the popular full back to deliver a superb cross which was met confidently by Darlington, to give the Saints a two nil half time lead.
The second half continued in much the same fashion and just after the hour mark Wilde added his second after a brilliant run and cross from Chris Jones, which resulted in Wilde calmly slotting in from the edge of the box.
Port Talbot never really offered much going forward throughout the match and with only five minutes left, must have felt that the three goal deficit was going to be as bad as it got. However, substitute Draper who looked lively after coming on, dribbled around the visitors ‘keeper to make it four.
Fraughan, who played magnificently well, then added a goal that his performance deserved, by curling the ball into the top corner after a mazy run down the right.
The reigning Champions do not have a game next weekend but travel to Broughton to face second placed Airbus UK on the 23rd of February, for a match that will have a significant impact on the remainder of the season.
The New Saints 5-0 Port Talbot Town.
