'Darlo' looks back on succesful season

First Team Coach at The New Saints, Carl Darlington has been looking back at the season and has praised everyone associated with the team after a wonderful season.

The New Saints won the League by a record margin of 22 points, and won every single game after the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League split into two. Carl who works very closely with Craig Harrison said, ‘We played 10 games and won all 10 of them since the league split. We scored 33 goals and conceded just five! The players have been excellent, right until the end.’

Carl also expressed how delighted he is to be part of a team that made history, ‘It has been a fantastic season and to win the league by 22 points, which is a new record, is a phenomenal effort from everyone. The club are now level with Barry Town’s record of Seven League titles and we are delighted to have made history.’

‘Darlo’ also went on to praise Mike Wilde, who in his first season back at the Oswestry based club, ended up as the Welsh Premier League top scorer, ‘I am delighted for Mike Wilde to get the Golden Boot. He is the first Saint to have won the Golden boot since Marc Lloyd Williams. Alex Darlington was also not far away with his tally of 18 goals.’

Darlington, who is also the Technical Programmes Manager for The Welsh Football Trust, went on to say, ‘The players have been enjoying their football this season, which is very important. They have been playing with flair and creativity and we have shown all season that we have got goals all the way through our team!’
