The New Saints were beaten 1-0 by a stubborn and well organised GB Universities side at Park Hall Stadium.
The Saints were playing their first pre-season friendly of the year and despite having a lot of possession, the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Champions couldn’t break the GB Uni team down.
The match was split up into three 30 minute periods with a break midway through the second period. The Saints started brightly and although the Oswestry side had the majority of the ball, they were unable to create many chances.
At half time Craig Harrison susbstituted his entire team and soon after Nicky Platt struck for the visitors after a defensive mix up.
TNS battled on well and had several chances to equalise but Scott Quigley, Chris Seargeant and Greg Draper were all denied by James Bradshaw in the GB Uni goal.
The friendly ended 1-0 to the away side and as soon as referee, Martin Williams blew the full time whistle, both teams switched their attention to an already arranged penalty shoot out.
The Saints won 5-4 on penalties after Ryan Fraughan, Alex Darlington, Chris Seargeant, Sam Finley and Greg Draper all converted.
