The New Saints Under 19’s beat Airbus UK 5-2 thanks to goals from Scott Ruscoe, Aaron Simms, Rhys Cooper and a brace from Taylor James.
The Saints started confidently, retaining possession of the ball and broke the deadlock when Scott Ruscoe finished off some good work by the impressive Taylor James.
Soon after, James, who was voted as the man of the match, turned from provider to goalscorer, as he notched in his first and his teams second goal of the game.
Airbus then started to get to grips with TNS and were the better team for the next 20 minutes before Simms scored the goal of the match. The versatile defender found himself in space and unleashed an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.
The second half was a much more even affair which resulted in the visitors cutting the goal advantage to two goals. Ryan Kershaw’s reckless lunge resulted in a penalty which Airbus converted.
However, Tns were soon back on the attack and The Saints scored a fourth after Rhys Cooper ghosted in at the far post, before poking the ball home having met a wonderful cross from Liam Walker.
Airbus then grabbed a second after some sloppy play at the back but Steve Evans’ hard working side had the last laugh when James completed his brace from the penalty spot, to ensure an emphatic victory for The New Saints Under 19’s.
