Andrew Garmston inspired a memorable come back yesterday after his hat-trick sealed an unlikely draw for the WNSC team.
In terrible weather conditions, the Development squad travelled to Solihull on the back of some really good performances. The playing surface did not help their recent slick passing game and they all had to adapt their style of play.
However, Craig Edwards was not disappointed as his team salvaged a point from what seemed to be a bad day for WNSC. Solihull sixth form, who had also won all five of their games going into the match, started brightly and raced into a two goal lead after some sloppy defending from the visitors.
The weather then deteriorated and the home side scored again but on the stroke of half time, Garmston pulled a goal back after a good finish from close range.
An inspirational team talk from Connor Tinsley seemed to bring out the fight in the boys and it was Garmston who turned the game on it’s head after some good work from Keiran Beever. The man of the match calmly slotted in to give his team hope.
WNSC had further opportunities to draw level but with only five minutes to go, the hat-trick hero latched on to a neat flick from Jake Mantell and the striker made no mistake to seal a brave come back.
Both Edwards and Scott Ruscoe were delighted with the team and congratulated all of the players who played their part in a truly hard fought game.
The Line up for the match consisted of: 1. Jason Marriott, 2. Jason Glennister, 3. Sam Jones, 4. Connor Tinsley, 5. Lewis Haywood, 6. Joel Oughton, 7. Garry Evans, 8. Andrew Garmston, 9. Gary Rae, 10. Jake Mantell, 11. Alex James, 12. Josh Tomley, 14. Keiran Beever and 15. Josh Graves.
The WNSC Elite group also played yesterday and beat Cirencester three nil, thanks to goals from James Jones, Ryan Kerhsaw and Liam Walker.
