The New Saints Under 19’s continued their recent good form with a convincing 3-0 win against their closest rivals Bangor, thanks to a Dylan Jones goal and brilliant brace from Taylor James.
In what was an entertaining game from the start, Steve Evans’ side had the majority of the possession but Bangor looked dangerous on the counter attack.
However, just before the half hour mark, the home side took the lead. Rhys Cooper delivered an inviting ball across the box for Jones to drive in and smash the ball into the roof of the net at the back post.
The visitors pushed forward and Ryan Edkins was forced to produce a number of good saves that kept his side in front.
Five minutes after, TNS doubled their advantage through the impressive James, after some good work from the equally impressive Ryan Kershaw.
Although Bangor always looked dangerous on the counter attack they never troubled the TNS goal again. The Saints controlled the match after going two up and added another goal after James finished off some excellent work from substitute Liam Walker.
Evans was delighted with his side and said, ‘All of the lads were terrific today. We have really started to play some great football but we have to keep our feet on the ground and not get carried away with anything. We have got to keep working hard in training and taking each game at a time’.
The TNS team consisted of Ryan Edkins, Ryan Pryce (Jamie Hands), Adam Davies, Aaron Simms, Jordan Wells, Ryan Kershaw, Dylan Jones (Liam Walker), Fisnik Hajdari, Taylor James, Ben Richards (Sam Prince) and Rhys Cooper.
The unused substitutes were Stewart Evans and James Jones.
