Saints to create 'Football Hub' in Oswestry

TUESDAY 25th February 2014

Current Welsh Premier Champions The New Saints Football Club are pleased to announce plans to expand its football facilities with the provision of an additional full size floodlit 3G pitch, six floodlit 3G mini pitches and additional parking at its Park Hall home in Oswestry.

The exciting new project will be located on land adjacent to The Venue and Park Hall Stadium on Burma Road, Oswestry, which is currently owned by Shropshire Council.

The acquisition of the land is subject to the club receiving the necessary planning consent from Shropshire Council as well as securing the necessary funding to support the cost of the project estimated to be around £1 million pounds from potential funding partners.

‘The club has recently submitted an application for planning permission and is currently in the process of making an application for funding to the Football Association of Wales from its UEFA HatTrick funded 3G strategy programme’ enthused the club’s Chief Operating Officer Ian Williams.

‘The additional facilities will enable the club to expand its current football operation and create a real ‘football hub’ for the community. With our scholarship and academy programmes continuing to improve and our recently established Community Foundation starting to create excellent links with local schools and clubs and the club continuing to host regional coaching sessions and matches, the new pitches will encourage even greater participation from all sectors of the community, ‘ he added.
