The New Saints FC have donated £1000 to a local Cricket Club.
Oswestry Cricket Club have become the latest organisation to benefit from The New Saints’ Community Foundation.
Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Champions, TNS have donated £1,000 to the Morda Road club to help strengthen its flourishing junior section.
“It’s a very generous gesture, and one we greatly appreciate,” said Oswestry CC secretary Hugh Roberts. “Practically every member of our highly successful First XI has come up through our junior ranks, and this generous donation will help us prepare our senior sides of the future.”
Niall Broe added that ‘We are delighted to support a local club who are developing a strong junior section. We are looking to get children of the community engaging in sport and exercise and this highlights our commitment. I am looking forward to future involvement with the cricket club in line with the multi sport programmes we are set to deliver.’
Fittingly, the cheque was handed over during Oswestry CC’s Summer School, which was held over four days at the Morda Road venue for youngsters aged between eight and fourteen years of age.
