The New Saints and Airbus UK played out a one all draw at Park Hall Stadium in the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League.
TNS took the lead after 12 minutes when Mike Wilde headed in from a corner. Chris Marriott’s excellent corner picked out the powerful forward who powered the ball into the net from six yards out. However Glenn Rule equalised for The Wingmakers to ensure that Andy Preece’s side left Oswestry with a point.
Airbus pushed forward throughout the first half and tested the TNS defence with a number of long balls and deep crosses.
The Saints looked lively on the counter and with the pace of Adrian Cieslewicz, TNS nearly added a second goal.
The Polish winger sprinted down the left hand side and picked out Alex Darlington who was denied by a brilliant save from James Coates.
Five minutes before the break, Aeron Edwards went close with a powerful half volley which went just over, before Ryan Wade smashed a chance wide for the visitors after TNS had failed to clear a corner.
In first half stoppage time, Airbus equalised. Rule spun in the box and fired in from six yards out to level the game going into the break.
The second half kicked off with Airbus looking to take the lead and hit the post within the first minute as the rain started to pour.
TNS forced Coates into a number of saves as Craig Harrison’s side searched for the winning goal. Edwards’ headed was cleared off the line and moment later, substitute Chris Seargeant’s drilled shot was blocked when it looked destined to hit the back of the net.
Late on in the game, Andy Jones controlled the ball in the box but fired wide as Paul Harrison watched on.
The Welsh Champions continued to search for the winner but Coates was once again able to keep out The Saints and ensure that the match finished level.
