Academy Round Up 3rd/7th Jan

Under 8’s – Sat 3rd Jan

The team included: Lewiz, Riley, Alex, Josh, Will, Rhys, Josh A, Joe, Aflie, Liam.

The scorers were: Alfie, Joe, Will & Josh A.

TNS U8’s have started the new year off well with a commanding victory over a previously unbeaten side.

Saint’s were sloppy in the opening stages and found it hard to create any clear cut chances.

We took the lead through a well taken strike from Alfie Harrison, the playmaker continued his fine form since his move from Chirk and had Joe Drummond to thank after a weaving run.

TNS made it two after another fantastic run saw Joe burst past 3 defenders and calmly slot home into the right bottom corner.

The game was put to bed just after half time when Will Beckett’s magic feet danced past the keeper and tapped home.

Randley, a team previously unbeaten in the two years since they’ve been formed had little chances and all attacks were dealt with well by Captain Riley Griffiths along with Alex and Josh B.

The game finished with a Josh Anders goal after some good play, a fitting way to finish off the fixture.

Coach Kieran Lee-Birch said – The build up to the match highlighted the point Randley were unbeaten. I was looking for a good performance from a strong team in which I had picked. We were without our top goal scorer in Sam but Will, Rhys and Liam have done well to keep the goals flowing. To get a performance like this in our first game back is a compliment to how well the team is progressing. I don’t think we ever came under any real pressure and when Randley did attack we dealt with the threat well. One of their lads is at Stoke City so I was really pleased with how we took the game to them. I look forward to the rest of the month now with upcoming fixtures against Crewe, Preston North End and Shrewsbury Town.
