The New Saints of Oswestry Town were crowned theWord Cup Champions after beating Bala Town by three goals to nil at Paveways Latham Park, Newtown.
A wonderful goal from Chris Seargeant and a brilliant brace from Scott Quigley was enough to give The Saints a deserved victory in the Final.
TNS dominated the possession from start to finish and were worthy winners against a brave Bala side.
Aeron Edwards shot wide within the opening ten minutes before Adrian Cieslewicz shot straight at Bala’s Ashley Morris in what was an even start to the game.
However, on the half hour mark, Quigley gave TNS the lead. The powerful winger controlled the ball in the box and his deflected shot looped over Morris.
Moments later, Ian Sheridan headed just over the bar as Bala looked for an equaliser.
With the first half coming to an end, TNS nearly doubled the lead. Aeron Edwards was picked out by Cieslewicz but he didn’t manage to get enough contact on the ball as Morris looked helpless.
However, The Saints doubled the lead with five minutes left to play in the first half. Seargeant picked up the ball on the corner of the box and fired in a brilliant shot towards the far post that beat everyone.
The second half began with Kai Edwards heading over the bar as Craig Harrison’s side looked for another goal to secure the trophy.
The TNS number six then headed in from a corner but the referee ruled out the goal for an apparent foul on a Bala defender.
The Saints controlled the second half restricting Bala to only a few attacks and on the 63rd minute Harrison introduced Sam Finley.
The energetic midfielder forced a brilliant save from Morris with moments of coming on. The Bala number one was alert enough to tip over Finley’s powerful half volley.
TNS sealed the match in the 80th minute when Quigley was left in space and headed home to complete his brace.
Bala kept on pushing forward in search of a consolation but TNS defended well and were crowned theWord Cup Champions.
