Under 8s (1 March 2015)
Llandudno 3-3 The New Saints (TNS)
Parents and coaches witnessed a wonderful game of junior football away at Llandudno. Both sets of players had the privilege of playing on the home teams state of the art 3G pitch and experience the wonderful facilities available.
TNS took the lead against the run of play after 10 minutes when Joe Drummond danced through the oppositions defence and slotted home into the right hand corner. Minutes later TNS found themselves 2-0 up when Liam Lippitt’s shot was struck against the defenders and the ball trickled over the line to give the away side a comfortable lead.
Both teams moved the ball about well with both sets of parents and coaches encouraging both sets of players, a really nice feel around the pitch.
Llandudno were back in the game when a deflection landed at the feet of number 7 and he struck an unstoppable shot into the top right corner, a fantastic goal. After this the game became open and both sides enjoyed good spells in front of each others goals. Llandudno were level when they capitalised on a defensive mix up.
TNS scored again after some good play from Will Beckett and Owen Booty. A fantastic team goal by the Saints. But seconds later Llandudno equalised again with another good goal. The match finishing evening, a truly fantastic example of junior football.
Under 8’s coach Kieran Lee-Birch was quoted ” We all really enjoyed todays match, both sides playing some good football; and both sets of parents giving praise to the opposition was really nice to see. “We started the game well and played some good counter-attacking football” “The only negative of the game I think was our finishing, I think we wasted a phew chances but that’s something we can easily work on in training” “Once again a really good display by a talented bunch of future stars”
The Under 8’s will now face a tough Wrexham side at Colliers Park on Wednesday.
