TNS Questionnaire with Graeme Kirkham

Name: Graeme Kirkham

Role at the club: Facilities Manager

What was your favourite moment of the treble winning season?

To pick one moment wouldn’t give the team and staff, justice. The fact that we only lost one game throughout the whole season and just three games from the end is an incredible achievement by all. To win all three domestic competitions is fantastic and a massive achievement for the football club.

What was your favourite goal of the season?

Again it’s difficult to choose one, but if I can go for one game it would be Newtown at home. After being 2-0 down and down to ten men, Greg Drapers four goals rescuing the unbeaten run were simply ridiculous! It just shows how good the team actually are when they know they have to turn it around.

Who was the most consistent performer for TNS?

Chris Marriott, solid all season, nothing gets by him. He’s got to be one of the first names on the team sheet every week. Not only strong, but calm and patient on the ball, he very rarely gives the ball away.

Who was the most improved player for The Saints?

I think the team as a group of players has improved massively over the past two/three seasons, they have a true team spirit that only comes to those who earn and want it. Most improved has to be Scott Quigley, he’s come all the way through the academy/scholarship programme, to the first team. He seems to create a chance or score a goal every time he’s on the pitch. I hope he gets a good chance in Europe next season and does the club proud!

What made you proud of being involved with the record breaking Champions?

It’s nice to be able to say I’ve been here for seven seasons and seen how the club and team have grown from what it was the first season at Park Hall. Just being a part of this successful club is really special. Makes me proud to say I’m from Oswestry and I can’t believe we have this kind of success on our doorsteps, it’s brilliant.

What are the challenges ahead for next season?

From what I see and hear, the same as every year. The team go into every game not wanting to lose, if we can aim to not lose at all next season that would be fantastic. The main aim has to be progression in Europe for me. There isn’t anything better than going to watch TNS in a European football match, Home or Away it’s a special atmosphere. I’m sure that everyone at the club feels the same. After seven years of being here, I can see the progression the team and whole club for that matter have made. We have been knocking on the door for a few years now, It’s time to stand up and be counted and make Oswestry Town & Llansantffraid proud. Let’s get through to the 3rd round of the Champions League and see what happens from there!
