A goal in each half from Scott Quigley secured a two nil victory for The New Saints against Gap Connah’s Quay in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League at Park Hall Stadium.
The Saints opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Quigley’s low shot beat John Danby and the TNS forward completed his brace with ten minutes left having rounded Danby and slotted into the open goal.
TNS were dominant for the whole of the match and controlled possession for the majority of the first half.
However, Craig Harrison’s side went into the break leading by just the one goal despite Chris Seargeant’s great strike from distance testing Danby.
Ten minutes into the second half, Les Davies broke forward and was brought down by Kai Edwards. However, Wes Baynes smashed the ball over from the resulting free kick.
Adrian Cieslewicz then shot straight at the Gap goalkeeper as TNS struggled to create anything clear cut.
With ten minutes remaining Quigley finished off the contest. A defensive mistake from Callum Morris released Quigley who was 40 yards away from goal. The powerful forward sprinted clear before taking the ball around Danby and slotting into the empty net to secure the points for TNS.
