Sports Camp Hailed Success

Trefonen6The New Saints FC Foundation hosted a five day multi-sport holiday camp in and around Oswestry this week, where over 35 boys and girls aged 4 to 12 attended.

The Foundation, a charity that aims to provide sports and education for young people, was able to provide the activities free of charge, after being selected by Shropshire Council’s Local Joint Committees (LJCs) to offer activities and outreach.

The areas covered, included: Gobowen, Weston Rhyn, St Martins, Trefonen, Morda, and Llanymynech. Each session was Morda1led by fully qualified multi-sport coaches, and offered a range of indoor and outdoor activities from dodgeball to football, cricket to fencing.

Foundation Officer Gill Jones said: “The event was a great success, the children really enjoyed the variety of activities on offer and we look forward to planning our next multi-sports camp for February half term.”


The Foundation will continue its work with young people in Oswestry through it’s ‘StreetGames’ sports club – coaching dodgeball and volleyball for ages 12+ every Wednesday 7-8pm at The Centre, Oak Street and costs just £1 Trefonen1per week.
