The New Saints of Oswestry Town knocked Barry Town out of the JD FAW Welsh Cup after a 5-2 victory at Jenner Park.
Goals from Aeron Edwards, Chris Marriott, an own goal and a brilliant brace from Greg Draper secured the dominant away victory for the holders.
The Saints took the lead after five minutes when Draper’s superb low shot beat Dan Bradley from eight yards out. However, Barry were level seconds later after scoring straight after the restart.
Five minute later, Barry took a shock lead. A wonderful cross was met by Drew Fahiya who managed to beat Paul Harrison and head in from five yards out.
The Saints were then prevented from levelling when Ryan Evans’ magnificent header cleared the ball off the line.
TNS finally did manage to level with five minutes to play in the first half. Jamie Mullan’s brilliant low cross was tapped in by Draper from two yards out.
A minute later and TNS retook the lead. Once again it came from the right after Mullan beat his man and picked out Edwards who gave The Saints a 3-2 half time lead.
The second half began with TNS probing and on the hour mark, Marriott’s wonderful effort curled into the top corner to give The Saints a 4-2 lead.
Ryan Brobbel then came on to make his debut as Craig Harrison’s side continued to control the tie.
With 75 minutes played, Marriott’s low cross was deflected into the back of the net by a helpless Barry defender as TNS looked to run riot a Jenner Park.
The Oswestry based side controlled the remaining quarter of an hour and coasted into the Quarter Final of the JD FAW Welsh Cup.
