The New Saints returned to winning ways in the Dafabet Welsh Premier League after a comprehensive 6-0 victory against Newtown at Paveaways Latham Park with Greg Draper scoring a superb hat-trick.
Adrian Cieslewicz broke the deadlock midway through the first half after a superb solo goal. The Polish winger dribbled past a couple of defenders before slotting into the bottom corner leaving Dave Jones no chance.
Minutes later and TNS were forced into some defending and were able to prevent the equaliser after a desperate goalmouth scramble.
TNS doubled the lead in the 33rd minute when Jamie Mullan’s excellent cross was tapped in by Draper.
A minute later and Draper was able to complete his brace. A similar goal to his first, Draper powered in from close range after being picked out by Mullan to give TNS a three goal advantage after 35 minutes.
The Saints controlled the second half and on the 65th minute, Draper completed his hat-trick. A wonderful pass from substitute Ryan Brobbel split the defence and Draper latched onto the ball before rounding Jones to make it 4-0 to TNS.
Craig Harrison sent on Mike Wilde and Scott Quigley and within seconds, The Saints nearly had a fifth goal. Chris Marriott’s shot was cleared off the line with the ball looking destined to hit the back of the net.
