Live Sgorio match switched from Bala to Airbus due to heavy rain forecast.
The FAW, S4C and TV production company Rondo Media, have mutually decided to switch Saturday’s live televised Dafabet Welsh Premier League match from Bala to Airbus UK Broughton, due to the heavy rain forecast on Saturday.
With heavy rain predicted in Bala for much of Friday and Saturday, the decision was taken on Thursday morning to change the live Sgorio match from Bala v The New Saints, to Airbus UK Broughton v Gap Connah’s Quay.
All four clubs were consulted before the decision was made and the FAW and S4C would like to thank all clubs concerned for their cooperation and understanding, which should hopefully ensure that a live match can be broadcast on Saturday.
Welsh Premier League secretary Gwyn Derfel said: “Considering the forecast for bad weather over the weekend, and that so many people enjoy watching a live game on S4C on a Saturday afternoon, the decision was taken to move the live match. We would like to thank each of the four clubs for their co-operation for the benefit of the league.”
The live outside broadcast will now take place at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, as Sgorio brings coverage of the Flintshire derby.
The match also sees Airbus UK manager Andy Preece welcome his long-time assistant Andy Morrison, along with his new team, back to Broughton.
If conditions allow play at Maes Tegid on Saturday, Sgorio will also take a single camera to record the Bala Town v TNS match, with highlights of the game to be shown during Sgorio’s Monday night programme at 6.30pm.
