Academy Round Up 27/28 Feb 2016

Under 11s (27/02/16)

Team: Jack Edwards, Jack Davies, Mikey Robinson, Jack Todd, Steven King, Ed Moore, Ralfie Challinor, Jay Barrow

TNS 1 Flint 0

After a disappointing game mid week this was the perfect opportunity for the boys to bounce back and that’s exactly what they did with a dominate display against a strong flint side, the men in green created a hat full of chances in their first game of the day, but only managed to convert the one, through Ste king with a powerful long range effort that left the keeper no chance, the boys did owe a big thank you to our  keeper jack ed for a couple great one on one saves as the visitors resorted to the long ball to try and get back into the game, to no avail as the score stayed 1-0 to the home side.

TNS 3 Connahs Quay Nomads 0

In the second game the boys again were dominant scoring 3 and keeping another clean sheet, first up to score was debutant Jay Barrow who overall had a great start to his Tns career. Playing up front he did well holding the ball  up and bringing others into the action and added a real poachers goal prodding in from a few yards out after a cracking call into the box by winger ralfie Challinor who also had his best game of the season. Next up was a real treat from Ed Moore who undoubtedly scored the goal of the day, as the ball came out of the sky he kept his eye on it and as it dropped over his shoulder from the angle he volleyed over the keeper into the far corner, very much in the Jamie vardy vein excellent. last but not least was Jack Davies who playing at center half is starting to make scoring a regular occasion to duly make the score 3-0.

TNS 4 Airbus 1

The third and final game of the day was won in five fashion with man of the match Jack Todd scoring 2 but his all round game in the midfield all day was outstanding between him self and his partner Ste king they dominated each game with hard work good communication, and great movement that the other teams just couldn’t match so it was good to see the pint sized wizard weigh in with a couple of goals to top off a good days work. Jay Barrow again got himself on the score sheet to prove he’ll be a real threat in games to come,  and the scoring was finished off again by center half Davies getting his second of the day to top another good display from the ever improving defender.

Well done to all the boys on excellent displays in all three games unfortunately they couldn’t come away with a hat trick of clean sheets but the defending from mikey jack and jack in goal was superb all day, as we’re the rest of the boys mentioned above now let’s get some consistency in these performances for the rest of the season.

TNS Under 16s (28/02/16)

TNS 16’s 3 Connahs Quay Nomads 16’s 0

SQUAD : Ben, Jamie, Haci, Zak, Lewis, Dennis, Curtis, Ben, Jamie, Harvey, Peter, Harry, Tom, Ben, Rob, Jack and Sam.

Scorers : Harry, Rob-Penalty, Harvey

The 16’s needed to bounce back after last weeks disappointing 2-1 loss at home to Bala and what a great opportunity it was playing top of the table Nomads.

The lads started brightly and won the ball back straight from the kick off and looked to counter attack straight away. Rob Reynolds beat his marker and his cross into the box was taken off the head of Harry Parkinson by the keepers finger tips.

This was the way the game continued with the TNS lads working hard to win the ball back. TNS soon went ahead through Harry Parkinson. The striker chased a clearance and put the Nomads defender under pressure and won the ball back and fed the ball out wide to Rob who beat his man comfortably and his pin point cross was slotted home by Harry. TNS were having a lot of the ball and frustrated the Nomads players. It wasn’t long before TNS scored again with the amount of pressure being put on the Nomads goal. TNS were awarded a penalty for a blatant push in the bow with Rob calmly sending the keeper the wrong way to put TNS 2-0 in front.

Half Time 2-0 TNS

Nomads come out of the traps 2nd half and put TNS under a bit of pressure for the 1st 10 minutes. The Nomads players could only muster shots from distance that didn’t threaten the TNS goal. TNS raised their game again and took control of the game and went close through Jamie Samuels, Harry Parkinson, Ben Clake, Curtis Weetman and Harvey Plimmer with the Nomads keeper making some good saves, keeping the score down. Peter Fletcher was introduced and he almost scored within 5 minutes. He picked the ball up from 25 yards out and played a 1-2 with Harry and his 1st time shot hit the post and rolled  across the line before being cleared. TNS put the game to bed when Harvey Plimmer scored the 3rd goal. Harvey won the ball out wide right and cut inside beating 2 Nomads players before unleashing a shot that the keeper could only parry and Harvey nodded the ball into an empty net.

Steve Monk said this after the game…
“Absolutely fantastic performance by the lads today, it had to be after the disappointing result last week!!   We knew where we went wrong last week and the lads put it right today. Nomads are top of the league so we knew they would be hard to beat. We worked hard all over the pitch today and controlled the game. Nomads come at us in the 2nd half and put us under pressure which we expected but they didn’t really trouble Ben. It was great having Lewis Kaye and Zak Dobie back in the team after being out with injuries, special mention has to go to the 3 under 15’s in the squad Haci Ozlu, Sam Fowles and Ben Clarke. They have been superb and bring something extra into the team. It was a fantastic result but we must continue to put the same work in, into our four remaining games, starting with Portmadog away Sunday.”
