Of course there are regular ongoing commitments but the one thing that stands out for me in my work with TNS is the variety that the job constantly throws at me.
In a very general sense it’s all football-related, but within that framework the workload goes off on all sorts of tangents. Take the recent visit, last weekend, to Park Hall by the BBC Bargain Hunt team, as an example.
It all started some weeks before when I had an email from Lucy Sewell, who is a researcher on the popular series that most of us will be familiar with.
If you are aware of the format, they do their thing in regards to the main thrust of the programme but they also weave items of interest into the show from the area they are visiting.
Therefore, with filming at the Oswestry Showground, they asked if they could visit Park Hall. A team of five, including Lucy and presenter Eric Knowles, arrived on Sunday morning complete with filming equipment.
An in-house Academy game was organised and following that some of the lads stayed behind for the nitty gritty. Everyone had great fun and I was pleasantly surprised at just how much content there was from our perspective.
It will be about four months before the finished article hits the small screen but in the meantime check out our weekly podcast that includes an exclusive interview with Eric Knowles and some footage of the day.
