No sooner has the dust settled on the first leg and the focus is now on the return, as The New Saints travel to Portugal in the Champions League Qualifying Round One tie against Europa FC.
The Gibraltarian champions, due to UEFA intervention concerning the stadium, won’t be playing the second-leg on home soil. Located near Faro, the venue, Estadio Algarve, is a magnificent stadium. Built for the EURO 2004 tournament, it has a capacity of just over 30,000.
The national side has also played a number of games there, both competitive and friendly, including the latter in a 1-1 draw against England back in 2004.
Back to the present though and TNS are attempting to overturn a 2-1 deficit from the first-leg at Park Hall. A Scott Quigley wonder-goal just before the break saw the champions of Wales equalise but only to fall behind again in the second period.
Current form in all competitions (including the first leg) sees Europa on six wins from six, while TNS have three wins and as many defeats.
‘The players will be back in training, we’ll do some work and we’ll be back again next week’
Scott Ruscoe, following the 2-1 defeat at Park Hall
The match is scheduled for 6.30 pm (local time) and you can follow the action via TNS Radio, where a link will appear on our website ahead of kick-off.
There is a TNS-organised trip to the game and you can find out more HERE.
