On Friday (September 8 2017) the reigning JD Welsh Premier League champions host Cefn Druids on MatchDay 4. The kick-off is 7.45 pm and admission charges to Park Hall are unchanged this season at £8 / £4 / £1.
With back-to-back victories in the league, Scott Ruscoe will be looking to continue that run against TNS’ closest rivals geographically speaking. With just a few miles of A5 seperating the clubs, it’s a local derby.
With TNS competing in the Championship Conference last season and the Druids in the Play-Off Conference, the sides only met twice in the league.
The corresponding fixture, a Boxing Day encounter at Park Hall, resulted in a 4-0 victory for The New Saints, with goals from Cieslewicz and Darlington just before the break, followed by a second for Ciss and one from Draper in the second period. All four were scored in the space of ten minutes.
The game that most people will remember though is the one four days later at The Rock, as goals from Edwards and Routledge secured a 2-0 victory on the road.
The win ensured that The New Saints FC would be forever immortalised in footballing history. Eclipsing the early seventies achievement of the Ajax side that won twenty-six games on the bounce, TNS went one better.
Of course, that was then and this is now. The reigning champions go into the game in 5th place, one of five teams on six points behind the current leaders, Llandudno FC who are the only side with a 100% record.
If you are not at Park Hall on Friday, don’t miss out as TNS Radio will be bringing you commentary and chat. The link for the game can be found via ‘News’ at the head of the page.
