The New Saints go into Tuesday’s (November 28 2017) game at Cefn Druids with the chance to extend the lead at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League to five points.
Following today’s (Sunday, November 26) 0-0 between Cardiff Met FC and Connah’s Quay Nomads, for the first time this season Scott Ruscoe’s side has the opportunity to pull away from what has been a tightly-knit pack at the top.
First though, Cefn Druids have to be overcome and sitting in 5th place in the table, Huw Griffith’s team has shown since promotion back into the top flight that they are not there simply to make up the numbers.
Giving his opposite number respect and full credit, Ruscoe commented: “Hugh is an excellent coach, he gets his players well-organised. He gets the best out of them, he makes good signings and I like what he does.”
Although nine points behind TNS they’re a hard nut to crack this season so far, with just three defeats in the league, which is just one less than The New Saints.
In their latest encounter, they beat Barry Town United 2-1 at The Rock, with second-half goals from Naim Arsam and Jonathon Taylor.
Park Hall connections for the opponents include the aforementioned Arsam, who was in the Scholarship and Fisnik Hajdari who made his Welsh Premier League debut in the 2013/2014 season. Since leaving TNS he has established himself with the Druids.
The New Saints go into the game with the good news that Blaine Hudson is back in contention for a place in the starting line-up. Having been out injured for several weeks, the towering centre back played the full 45 minutes of the second half in Saturday’s win against Carmarthen Town.
