Report by Steve Benyon
On Sunday January 7th, 14 of the Professional Phase players faced Conwy Borough at home in the JD Welsh Premier Development League.
This was the first game for the boys since the 9-0 drubbing of Cefn Druids but the lack of contact showed, with the players struggling to string 3 passes together, whilst making uncharacteristic mistakes.
We welcomed Steve Saunders into the team for his first competitive minutes in a long time, and went into the break 3-1 up, courtesy of 2 goals from Liam Parry and 1 from the returning Tomos Williams.
The second half however was a completely different story, with yet again uncharacteristic mistakes from normally reliable players leading to Conwy scoring 3 very soft goals.
We however managed to score a further 4 goals through Liam Parry, totalling an individual haul of 4, with goals from Harley Steel and Rob Reynolds.
After the full time whistle, the boys were clearly disappointed, but we now turn our attention to rectifying these mistakes starting tomorrow in training. It was nice to see players gaining valuable minutes, but another lesson learnt by the players to ensure that every time they pull on the shirt, high standards must be maintained.
Training topic this week is beating the block, with 2 games Wednesday against Newcastle and Warwickshire, followed by Caernarfon Town away next Sunday.
