This afternoon, The New Saints of Oswestry Town hosted Wolverhampton Wanderers in a behind-closed-doors friendly. This is the third time that the two sides have played against each other this season, following a similar fixture at Wolves’ Compton training ground and an open-to-the-public pre-season friendly at Park Hall.
FAW rules mean that we can’t bring you the result of today’s encounter, just a general overview. With many first team players rested for the game, it was a chance for others to get valuable pitch-minutes. In particular, the returning-from-injury Steve Saunders and the new signings Dean Ebbe and Kevin Kauber benefited from the run-out.
It was also an opportunity for Scott Ruscoe and Steve Evans to check on the progress of a number of up-and-coming youngsters from the development set-up at Park Hall. The likes of Ben Clark and Callum Jones have already made their full senior debuts, with the former in particular very much a regular part of the current squad, including making the bench for last Saturday’s Nathaniel MG Cup victory.
TNS TV caught up with Dean Ebbe following the game, and you can watch the interview via the embedded video below. In addition, Brian Jones was pitchside and you can check out the photograph album on our Facebook page.
