Harry Bower Selected For International Tournament In Italy With England

A regular member of the England Colleges FA (ECFA) in recent games, that run of consistency continues for Harry Bower as he has been chosen for the squad that will be competing in the upcoming Roma Caput Mundi Tournament in Rome.

Harry is representing The New Saints of Oswestry Town via the link and working relationship that we have with North Shropshire College. The ECFA squad fly to Italy on Saturday, February 17 and then return six days later.

The format consists of two groups of four with the winners then going into the final. England’s group also features Italy, Romania and Wales with Albania, Lazio, Greece and Malta in the other.

We caught up with Harry this weekend as he expressed his personal pleasure at being chosen: “I was very pleased to have been selected in the squad which will travel to Italy later this month, it will be a great opportunity for me.”

“Things at TNS are good and I’m being asked every couple of weeks to train with the first team.” he replied, when we chatted about how things were going at Park Hall for the talented youngster, before adding:  “We are still top of the U-19s League (JD Welsh Premier Development) and with just a few games left we are looking to win that and also hopefully stay up in the Category 1 College League.”

We asked Steve Benyon, Head of Professional Phase Scholarship and Under-19’s Manager at The New Saints for his thoughts on Harry’s selection.

“It is with immense pride, that on behalf of the Professional Phase, my coaches and players, I would like to congratulate Harry Bower on his inclusion in the ECFA Under 18’s English Schools squad” he began.

“Harry has impressed the coaches with his speed and willingness to run in behind opposition defences, as well as getting his fair share of goals and assists. He has also trained numerous times this season with our first team and has been an ever-present in our Category 1 and Development team, as well as representing Shropshire County.” he concluded, as he gave us more insight into Harry’s progress during the season so far at Park Hall.

The photographs are of Harry in recent ECFA action against Australia in Sheffield.

Everyone at The New Saints is extremely proud of Harry’s continued progress in the England set-up and we wish him the very best for the Roma Caput Mundi Tournamant.
