Jones And Bower Return From International Duty To Find The Newtown Net

With a number of players returning from international duty with both England and Wales, it was one of each as far as the TNS goalscorers were concerned. Second half goals from Wales Academy U18’s Callum Jones and England Colleges’ Harry Bower secured the points in a 2-1 victory at Latham Park.

On Sunday 25th February, writes Steve Benyon, 13 of the the Professional Phase players travelled to Newtown AFC, to take part in a JD Welsh Premier Development League game.

After a few last minute changes due to personel changes the boys started off nicely playing some patient football, but it was clear to see that there was a lot of tired players. We conceded a sloppy goal at the start of the second half, but fought back well, through goals from Callum Jones from the spot and Harry Bower, to earn ourselves 3 crucial points.

Brilliant character and desire shown by the boys, and another step closer towards the title, yet no-one in the camp is taking anything for granted. Now on to next week’s training programme, in preparation for Thursday’s game at home to Bala Town.
