With Mark Jones naming his Wales C squad today to face England C in an upcoming friendly at Barry Town United’s Jenner Park, we are extremely honoured and proud that two of our first team squad have been selected.
Aeron Edwards and Connell Rawlinson have both put in tremendously consistent performances when pulling on a green and white shirt this year. To hopefully see them donning the red jersey of Wales would be a fitting acknowledgment of their hard work, not only on the pitch, but also in training at Park Hall.
We caught up with Connell earlier today and he spoke to us about the pride of being part of the national squad: “I’m honoured to be selected for the side and to be representing my country. It’s a great opportunity to showcase the best of the Welsh players in the Welsh pyramid against the best of the English lads from the National League and I’m looking forward to it.”
Manager, Scott Ruscoe, expressed his delight at the duo’s selection: “I’m pleased for Aeron and Connell to get the opportunity to play for the Wales C team. I’m sure it will be a competitive fixture, one they are both looking forward to.”
The game is to be played on Tuesday, March 20 with a 7.30 p.m. kick-off. Both players will be joining the full squad from the Sunday, two days earlier, as they prepare for the fixture.
Everyone at Park Hall wishes both Aeron and Connell all the very best as they represent not only Wales, but also The New Saints of Oswestry Town, on the international stage.
