This Friday (April 27, 2018) is the final game of the season for The New Saints of Oswestry Town, as we welcome Cardiff Metropolitan University FC to Park Hall.
Going into Matchday 32, the sides are separated by other three teams, thirty one points and a goal difference of forty six. Although The Archers are one of five to have a plus goal account, nevertheless the sum total of the clubs combined (52) is only marginally better than TNS’ 51.
The last time The New Saints and Cardiff Met competed against each other was in March of this year. A very late debut goal from Kevin Kauber ensured a point in a 1-1 draw. That’s the lead photograph, courtesy of Brian Jones.
Although there’s a healthy points gap between the teams, Scott Ruscoe is certainly taking the capital challenge seriously: “They’re organised, they set up well and they stick to their game plan. They’re fit and that always gives them an advantage. But let’s see the season out in style. Let’s get a win.”
The League’s leading goalscorer, Greg Draper, echoed his manager’s sentiments: “They’ll be looking to get some momentum going into the play-offs. It’s not going to be easy and we’re going to have to be on it to get a win.”
The New Saints will be playing in the familiar green and white hoops / white shorts and white socks kit, while the goalkeeper will be in black and lime / black / black.
The officials for Friday’s game are: Rob Jenkins / Ashley Davis and Sion Peter Davies / Nick Pratt / Dave Fawkes.
Kick-off is 7.30 p.m. and as always, if you’re not at the game then don’t miss out. TNS Radio will be bringing you commentary and chat as we go on air ahead of the whistle. The link is here on the home page of our website.
Admission to Park Hall is £8 adults / £4 concessions and £1 juniors.
