From Bolton, Barnsley And Accrington To Park Hall

The New Saints of Oswestry Town is pleased to announce the signing of talented midfield player, Josh Hmami. Beginning his career as a youngster with Bolton Wanderers’ Academy, he crossed the Pennines where he spent a season with Barnsley FC’s Under-16 squad.

Then it was back to Lancashire, where a two-year scholarship with Accrington Stanley saw Josh go on to become the captain of the U-18s at The Club That Wouldn’t Die.

Training regularly with the first team and featuring in several behind-closed-doors friendlies, Hmami’s big break came in 2017. A belated Christmas present saw the then seventeen-year-old make his senior debut on December 30 against Grimsby Town.

While with Accrington he scored the only the only goal of the game, as his side beat Rochdale 1-0 in the FA Youth Cup.

Hmami will wear the number 18 shirt for the 2018/2019 season, one associated with legendary striker, Mike Wilde, during his Park Hall days and since worn by Mihai Leca and Tom Holland.

We will publish a full interview with Josh in due course but speaking exclusively to us this week, he shared his delight at putting pen-to-paper. “I am really happy to sign for TNS and looking forward to working with both Scott and Steve (Ruscoe and Evans). I am hoping to be a good addition to what is already an outstanding team and I cannot wait for the season to start!”

Full of praise for his second signing ahead of the new season, Scott Ruscoe commented: “Josh Hmami has earned himself a contract with us after spending the last part of 2017/2018 training with the squad. He is only eighteen and is a very good player, especially in possession of the ball. He has a great attitude and will be someone we will look to improve and develop for the future”.
