We have our own dining room here at Browns and that’s where the day kicked off, as the players assembled for breakfast. It’s all healthy eating, of course, and not only the content but also the timing is a big part of the players’ ongoing regime.
As a professional football club, what players take on board is managed carefully. That order translates to the general set-up here in Portugal as well, as Scott Ruscoe and the staff work to a planned timeline.
As the players gathered for their first training session of the day, we were paid a visit by three very familiar faces, as Mike Harris, Helen Harris and Brian Jones dropped by.
Our chairman, finance director and official photographer respectively, they are in Portugal at the moment so it was great to see them. We interviewed Mike for next week’s edition of A Saints’ Eye View, so look out for that in due course.
Following training on the main pitch, the players also played on the 5-a-side astroturf set-up at the complex. There’s a great team spirit and they’re looking sharp. They’re all giving Scott Ruscoe something to think about as far as selection is concerned.
The second video podcast interview followed, as we chatted with JD Welsh Premier League Player Of The Season, our very own Jamie Mullan. A chat with Tom Holland went directly to TNS TV and you can view that below.
Announcing the Ben Cabango signing at 3.00 p.m. after liasing with Swansea City so that we had a coordinated time release, we then interviewed the latest addition to the squad.
Following a break after lunch it was back to work for the Welsh champions, this time the gym. Then another training session to round off the work day. We may be in Portugal but it’s certainly no holiday.
