The New Saints Sign Experienced Keeper

The New Saints of Oswestry Town is pleased to announce the signing of experienced goalkeeper, Connor Roberts.

The twenty-five year old Wrexham-born stopper, began his professional career with Everton in 2011. Following a couple of loan moves he switched to Cheltenham Town a year later, where he spent two seasons with the Gloucestershire club.

A year with Chester was followed by a move into top flight Welsh football, when he moved to Bangor City. After establishing himself in the side he now moves to Park Hall.

On the international stage, Roberts has represented Wales at u19s level four times with six appearances for the U21s. In 2014 he received a call-up to the senior squad for the friendly against the Netherlands.

As well as joining the first team, we are also pleased to confirm that Connor will be our newly appointed Head Of Academy Goalkeeping. The role involves looking after our young up-and-coming keepers at the club.

We spoke with Connor earlier today as he expressed his delight in signing for the JD Welsh Premier League Champions: “I’m very happy to sign for such a successful team that is also my local club. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in to full-time football again”.

We also spoke with Scott Ruscoe: “It’s a good signing for us, someone with experience and he’s knows the league. Connor will provide Paul Harrison with healthy competition, which we now have in every position in the squad”.

We will conduct an interview with our new signing next week when the players return to training.

Connor, welcome to Park Hall. All the very best from all of us at The New Saints FC.
