Happy Birthday, RUK Group

It was twenty years ago today, although on this occasion it wasn’t the band that was taught to play. Instead, July 1 1998 saw our main club sponsors, RUK Group, enter the world.

Neil Clarke takes up the story: “It doesn’t feel it but 20 years ago today Recycling UK Limited was born. I walked into our little back office with 2 desks in the Old British School at Tarporley on the 1st July 1998.

In 2002 we bought our first office in Nantwich followed by a move to a bigger office in 2008 as the business was growing at quite a pace.

In March 2012 we bought Oswestry Waste Paper and in January 2015 we came full circle when we moved our Group HQ back to Tarporley and only half a mile away from where we started.

Since then Rick Waterson has joined us in a joint venture company and is an integral partner in our future growth, while Steve Bell who was a fellow shareholder and director has retired for health reasons.

Thanks to all who have been with us on our journey and those that are still with us whether staff, suppliers, customers, agents, partners and all the friends we have met along the way.

It would be wrong if I didn’t mention those who are no longer with us: Simon’s Dad, Peter, my own Dad, Tom, Mick Guy, John Connor, Roy Salter, Rudi Weber, Peter Dyer snr, Brian Perry, Frank Howse, Dave Davies and Pat Murphy. All who were friends and helped us on our journey.”

Neil Clarke and Simon Marsden.
