The TNS Performance Phase welcomed Morecambe under-21s to Park Hall this afternoon for a friendly, as their preparations for the new season continued.
Ending in a 6-0 defeat, the result wasn’t what the side would’ve been hoping for, but it still offered a good chance for players to get needed match sharpness.
The highlight of the match came after 85 minutes, as Callum Jones rattled the crossbar with an effort from outside the box.
It was a great start from the visiting side, as they found themselves a goal up after just 46 seconds. A corner whipped in from the right was met by the head of a Morecambe player and nestled in the back of the net.
It got worse very quickly after. A neat turn in the box from the visiting forward gave him the chance to beat Lewis Dutton, and he didn’t need a second invitation.
Morecambe added a third with 18 minutes gone.
A well timed run from the away striker beat the offside trap, giving him a one on one with Dutton. A well taken finish made the score 4-0.
Following the break, TNS enjoyed many more chances and grew into the game.
But it was the visitors from Lancashire who continued the scoring, going 5-0 up with 72 on the clock.
Morecambe under-21s rounded off the scoring with a sixth and final goal with 80 minutes played.
