After a disappointing Deeside defeat on Sunday just gone, this coming Saturday (August 25) The New Saints host Carmarthen Town in the JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL).
We spoke to manager, Scott Ruscoe, immediately after the Connah’s Quay Nomads game as he shared his thoughts.
“We will dust ourselves off and give the lads a couple of days rest because that’s what they need. It’s no good flogging the boys just because they lost a game.
It’s a long season and we’ve given them targets and I’m sure we’ll be there come the end of it.”
The New Saints go into the game in third spot, with Carmarthen just above the relegation places, in tenth. Opening day defeat at Bala Town’s Maes Tegid, where the Old Gold lost 2-1, was followed by the only draw in the JD WPL so far this season, as the home game with Llandudno ended 0-0.
Last season’s encounters between The New Saints and Carmarthen registered two convincing wins for the reigning JD WPL champions. A 5-0 victory on the road in September 2017 was followed by a 5-2 win at Park Hall two months later.
The kick-off at Park Hall this Saturday is 2.30 p.m. and admission charges are £8 (adults), £4 (concessions) and £1 (under 16s). If you’re not at the game in person you can follow the action on TNS Radio. The link is here on the home page of our website.
The officials are: Tom Owen (referee), Dan Beckett, James Sheils (assistants) and Huw Jones (4th official).
