Performance Phase Host Wolverhampton Wanderers – Match Report

On Tuesday August 28th, 14 of the Performance Phase players faced English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers Under 18’s in a competitive friendly at Park Hall, writes Steve Benyon.

The game was a chance for a number of loan players to gain valuable minutes as well as the opportunity to pit ourselves against top quality opposition.

For 65 minutes we managed to keep Wolves out, as well as creating numerous chances, which weren’t converted due to a combination of poor technique, decision-making and good goalkeeping, but frustratingly we conceded 2 sloppy goals within the final 25 minutes.

However saying that, there was a lot of very promising play both on and mainly off the ball which we can all be proud of against a very, very good side, and helped brighten spirits following Sunday’s Llandudno game.

Many thanks to Darren Ryan for bringing his squad down and we look forward to the reverse fixture later on in the season.
