The New Saints v Aberystwyth Town – The Last Time We Met

The last time the sides met in the JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL) was on December 22 2017. The New Saints of Oswestry Town ran out 4-0 winners on that occasion, with Greg Draper the hat-trick hero.

The first of the New Zealand international’s goals came in the 6th minute. On the end of a ball in the box, he slotted past ex-TNS goalkeeper, Chris Mullock.

His second, a quarter of an hour later, saw the eventual JD WPL golden boot get his head to a great cross in the box, as the home side established a comfortable lead.

That was extended as we hit the two-thirds stage of the game. Picking up the ball outside the box, Chris Marriott unleashed his shot, as once again Mullock was beaten.

Good things come to those who wait and with just seven minutes to go, Draper scored his hat-trick, following good play from the reigning champions.

Line-up: Harrison, Spender, Marriott, Rawlinson, Routledge, Brobbel, Draper, Hudson, Mullan, Holland, Edwards.

Out of the eleven, just one, Rawlinson, is no longer at Park Hall. From the seven on the bench however, just Ben Clark is still part of the squad.

We interviewed Draper following the game and you can watch that below.
