It was August Academy player of the month presentations at our home fixture against Aberystwyth Town last night.
As well as enjoying the 6-0 victory in hospitality, the winners were also presented with their trophies on the pitch at half-time by Saints’ goalkeeper Connor Roberts.
Head of Academy, Jason Brindley, brings us up to speed with all of those taking home the awards.
Under 7 – Jamie Evans
An ever present at training, Jamie brings a lot of energy to all of the sessions and he is not afraid to try new things.
In a recent fixture, Jamie excelled using all of the things he has learned since coming to TNS. These include skills he has learned during ball mastery sessions, as well as adding some impressive techniques to his already talented footballing ability.
Under 8 – Harry Harrison
Harry’s had a fantastic start to the season, scoring and assisting many superb goals. He’s a real team player and works very hard during every training session and match.
A brilliant dribbler who’s able to dominate 1v1’s, Harry has really improved his decision making in possession.
Under 9 – Gio Antoniazzi
Gio is new to our Under 9s. He’s been a great addition with great understanding already of how we like to play, contributing with assists and scoring some great goals as part of the team.
Gio is an intelligent player and shows great confidence is giving answers when we use Q&A interventions. To top it off, he is a very polite young man with a great attitude.
Under 10 – Gruff Hamer
Gruff has shown great improvement with his decision making in the final third. He has become the complete player, able to collect the ball in the defensive third and either dribble past the opposition or make key passes to play through the thirds.
He is a team player and when in front of goal makes the right decision to either pass or shoot.
Under 11 – Ronnie Lee
Ronnie has been fantastic over the past month, playing in lots of different positions. He is a strong, brave player with an eye for a forward pass, and is never afraid to dig in and put his body on the line for his team.
His standout performance was against Team Elite, where he showed his quality and intelligence on the ball, as well as his heart and desire to win the ball back. Well done Ron!
Under 12 – Alfie Harrison
Alfie has not only had a superb month, he’s also made a great start to the season. He shows a great understanding of our playing philosophy and game model.
Alfie possess an eye for a split pass and is instrumental to our youngest Development Phase age group. He has been an ever present and has a great commitment to our programme.
He is extremely skilful, shows great balance and has had some standout performances including games against Stoke City, Cambrian and Bangor City.

He scored some fantastic goals in the team’s recent trip to France to compete in the Bourbourg Cup. Louis is an ever present at training and matches and shows a great commitment and attitude.
Under 14 – Harley Peagram
Since our end of season review, we identified targets for Harley to improve, with one of them being for him to use his great strengths such as athleticism & positive technique in a smart way to benefit the team.
He has a number of assists to his name and has had a huge impact within games. He has found great success over pre-season and has the ability to change games through his improved decision making along with his work rate and pace.
Under 15 – Callum Marriott
I really admire any central defender who plays for TNS. You have to be able to play out from the back, be comfortable in possession and be willing to defend on the half-way line while we attack.
Callum’s a top example of how we want a TNS player to look and we’re really happy with his progress. As well as being great in possession, Callum’s a tough tackler, strong, almost unbeatable in the air and tenacious.
Under 16 – Ryan Morgan
Ryan has had a fantastic month, although he has been consistent for a while. He has taken on information well in a new position and has really grown and developed in the role.
Ryan shows a fantastic commitment and attitude to training and is often found doing extra sessions in the Venue gym.
Under 19 – Callum Jones
Cal has been brilliant since his comeback from injury. He has worked tremendously hard in the gym and has been a stand out performer in some big games including Fleetwood and Wolves.
He has started life at FC Oswestry Town well and continues to go from strength to strength.
Speaking afterwards, Jason said:
“Congratulations to all our Players of the month for August. It is never easy to pick one player with all squads boasting so much quality.
“It’s good to see that they are selected based on different factors. Whether it’s standout performances, attitude in training or commitment, we always consider different factors.
“August has been a superb month for us as an Academy and football club as a whole. Our Academy training programme has begun, and we’re now training full-time across the board, and also exposing our players to some unbelievable fixtures and experiences, domestically, across the whole of the UK and European trips.
“We look forward to working with the players closer now we are back in on their individual development areas.”
