The final JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL) game of September 2018 sees The New Saints travel to the capital, as we take on Christian Edwards’ Cardiff Metropolitan University FC.
Having always finished at the right end of the table since their promotion to the top flight of Welsh football, this time round, albeit after just seven games, The Archers find themselves in eighth place.
With four defeats from their opening fixtures, the University-based side will be looking to get back on track in a fixture that they have done reasonably well in as far as result, and certainly performance,is concerned.
In nine meetings over the last two seasons, although Cardiff Met have yet to beat The New Saints, three of the games have ended in stalemate while a further three defeats have been by just one goal.
Scott Ruscoe takes the reigning JD WPL champions down south on a good run of form. Unbeaten in five league games – with just one draw – the side also has an impressive five clean sheets on the bounce.
As always though, the manager gives respect to the opposition and recognises the challenge that lies ahead: “They’re a good side, well-organised…. They’re well-drilled and they stick to a game plan… It’s always a tough game against them.”
The officials are as follows: Rob Jenkins (referee), John Bryant and Dan Beckett (assistants), Dave Morgan (4th official) and Steve Hames (observer).
The game, at Cyncoed campus (CF23 6XD), kicks-off at 12.45 p.m. and is live on S4C’s Sgorio. Admission is £6.00 (adults) and £3.00 (concessions).
