With five games between the sides in 2017/2018, the results were very close, with The New Saints winning two – including the Nathaniel MG Cup final – and the points shared in the other three.
The final JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL) game of the season for both teams – although The Archers went on to compete in the play-offs – saw a thrilling 3-3 encounter at Park Hall on MD32.
The starting line-up had three players that have since left the club – Kauber, Pryce and Saunders – with Harrison, Spender, Routledge, Brobbel, Draper, Hudson, Ebbe and Clark all part of the current squad.
Scott Ruscoe, having already secured his first JD WPL title as a manager, went for a strong side as he looked to end the season on a high.
Courtesy of a Kevin Kauber brace, The New Saints raced into an early lead, finding themselves 2-0 up with just seven on the clock.
However, the visitors fought back and two goals of their own within four minutes saw the sides level at the break.
Continuing the second period how they had concluded the first, Cardiff Met very quickly found themselves ahead, courtesy of a deflected shot that beat Paul Harrison.
However, in the 78th minute a brilliant volley from Ryan Brobbel pulled the home side back into the game, and that’s how it finished.
Following the match we interviewed Scott Ruscoe and you can watch that below.
