Females are being invited to take part in a host of classes run by The New Saints FC Foundation team.
Gym Fitness, Girls Get Active and Boxercise sessions are female-only classes and follow on from the popular Club1 initiative.
Funding from Street Games allowed The Foundation to trial opportunities last year to increase physical activity opportunities for young females age 14-25, and these have now grown in to regular activity sessions.
The Foundation originally provided multi-sport sessions at St Martin’s School and The Marches School, together with gym and fitness classes at The Venue, all designed for girls who wanted to increase their fitness and familiarise themselves with using public leisure facilities.
The Foundation successfully reached the end of the trial, having met their objectives, with many girls who had enjoyed the gym later taking advantage of reduced price membership or continuing with the classes at a subsidised rate.
Participants from St Martin’s school also attended the gym sessions and later took up reduced price gym memberships with parents.
All of the classes continue to run. On Thursday nights 5.30-6.30pm classes in The Venue gym(which include inductions) are supervised by Vicky at a cost of just £2 per class for girls aged 14+.
Boxercise takes place on Tuesday evenings at The Venue from 6pm-7pm, for just £3.50 per class or 2 people can attend for £5.
Finally, St Martin’s Girls takes at place the school between 3.30-4.30pm at a cost of just £2 for students – this session is multi activity with regular visits to The Venue for gym, bowling and panic room activity!
Vicky and Charley are visiting St Martin’s 3-16 school during 2 school assemblies to present the sessions to students over the next two weeks.
