Carmarthen Town v The New Saints – Match Preview

With the 5-0 victory at Prestatyn Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup the perfect antidote to last weekend’s JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL) defeat at Cardiff Metropolitan University FC, it’s back to league action this coming Saturday (October 6, 2018) for The New Saints of Oswestry Town.

Again on the road, it’s a trip to Carmarthenshire for the reigning champions, as we head to Richmond Park for a 2.30 p.m. kick-off.

Having already played each other this season, the previous encounter just a few weeks back on August 25, saw The New Saints end the game as comfortable winners. The 6-0 victory involved five different names on the team sheet, with Draper’s double joined by goals from Cieslewicz, Ebbe, Mullan and Redmond.

Going into Saturday’s game, The New Saints currently occupy second place, two points behind Connah’s Quay Nomads. The hosts, however, find themselves at the wrong end of the table, perched just outside the relegation places.

Having found the JD WPL net on nine occasions so far this season, only three other sides have scored less goals. At the other end of the pitch, The Old Gold’s defence has been breached on seventeen occasions, which puts them ahead of just two other teams in terms of goals conceded.
