Goals Galore For The TNS FC Elite Development Squads

It was goals galore on Wednesday November 7th, as EDS1 travelled to Accrington and Rossendale in the ECFA in the Category 1 league, whilst the EDS2 squad entertained Dudley College in the ECFA Category 2 league, writes Steve Benyon.

The EDS1 squad managed by myself and Kieran Lee-Birch made the long trip up north to face Accrington and Rossendale (featured image), trying to avenge a 4-3 loss there last season.

Travelling with a small squad due to injuries and other commitments, both myself and Kieran prepped the boys accordingly, relaying a simple message…play your normal game and most importantly go and express yourself.

The boys quite frankly were outstanding, controlling the game right from the start and scored nine unanswered goals through Harry Bower x4, Liam Parry x3, Aaron Lloyd and Alex Brownhill.

The football on show was a pleasure to watch, and Accrington simply could not deal with the quick combinations and numbers in attack, scoring a variety of goals from wide areas or individual brilliance, to send us second in the league.

The EDS2 squad also enjoyed themselves in front of goal to cement their place firmly at the top of the table, with a resounding 8-0 victory for the side led by Simon Smith and Jason Brindley.

The squad found themselves 3-0 up inside the first 10 minutes, and controlled the game from there on, through two goals a piece from Liam Ihekwoaba and Finley Jeffries and yet another four goal-haul this time from Luis Edwards.

It’s great to see all players continuing to impress in an attempt to secure a place in either squads and with no injuries or goals conceded in either game, it proved to be a great day for the Performance Phase, with each player continuing to go from strength to strength.
