This afternoon, Harry Bower and Ben Clark featured in an under-18 international friendly, as English Colleges FA (ECFA) played the England Independent Schools FA (ISFA).
The game was played at St. George’s Park, the English Football Association’s national football centre in Staffordshire. Although both of our youngsters featured in the game, they didn’t compete against each other, as Ben played in the first half for ISFA while Harry came off the ECFA bench for the second forty five.
English Colleges opened the scoring, as we approached the one-third stage of the game, with a close-range effort. The lead lasted just three minutes though, as their opponents capitalised on an opportunity at the other end to level the score.
Although both sides created chances during the remainder of the game – with ISFA rattling the crossbar in the final 20 minutes – the final score was 1-1 as referee, Dan Andrews, blew his whistle for the last time.
Following the match, we caught up with both Bower and Clark in the much warmer confines of the on-site Hilton Hotel. You can watch the video below. In addition, we filmed footage of both players in action, so that particular video will be out in due course.
Our thanks go to ECFA and ISFA for granting permission to cover today’s game from a media perspective and of course to St. George’s Park.

Finally, well done to Ben and Harry for representing their country. At whatever level you play, it is always a great honour to pull on your nation’s shirt. At The New Saints FC, we are always proud when our players compete at international level.
