It’s a massive game for both sides at the Giant Hospitality Stadium this weekend (Saturday, December 22) with The New Saints of Oswestry Town looking to make up ground on Connah’s Quay Nomads and Barry Town United at the top, while Llandudno FC are rooted at the bottom of the JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL) and will be desperate to kick-start their season sooner rather than later.
Having already met twice this season, both games have resulted in convincing victories for The New Saints. Both in October, a 6-1 victory at Park Hall in the JD WPL was followed by a 5-0 on the road in the Nathaniel MG Cup. Iwan Williams’ side will be hoping that it is a case of ‘third time lucky’, as they look to get something from the game this time round.
Current league form isn’t what either side would be happy with. The New Saints have picked up five points from as many games, while The Seasiders have lost all theirs. While the former can take some comfort in the goals against column being four, the latter will be concerned that their defence has been breached on fourteen occasions.
TNS FC’s problem has been finding the net, with just four goals scored, while Llandudno have the edge as far as that statistic is concerned, having scored five.
