Cefn Druids AFC v The New Saints FC – Match Preview

Following on from the 7-0 victory for The New Saints of Oswestry Town on Boxing Day at Park Hall, it’s a New Year’s Day encounter at The Rock, as the two teams once again go head-to-head in the JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL).

With Connah’s Quay Nomads losing 2-1 at Maes Tegid on December 26, coupled with Barry Town United’s 3-0 reversal at Cyncoed on New Year’s Eve, the nature of the title race changes once again.

Although still in third place as it stands at the moment, a win for The New Saints would close the gap to just one point as far as current leaders Barry Town United is concerned. However, a win for the Nomads, at home to Bala Town, would see them leapfrog Gavin Chesterfield’s side at the top.

Scoring eleven goals without reply in the last two games sees Scott Ruscoe’s go into 2019 on a high, as the side looks to make up lost ground in pursuit of an eighth successive JD WPL title.

The game at The Rock kicks off at 2.30 p.m. but if you’re not there in person don’t miss out, as you can follow the action via TNS Radio. The link is on the home page of our website.
