Academy Players Of The Month – December

During the half-time interval of our 4-0 JD Welsh Premier League victory against Newtown last Friday, we celebrated our Academy players of the month for December.

All of the winners were presented with their trophy on the pitch by first-team striker Dean Ebbe.

Under 7 – Liam Williams

Congratulations to Liam for winning player of the month for December. Part of our youngest Academy age group, Liam shows a great commitment to our programme and is an ever-present at training, also showing a good attitude. Well done Liam.

Under 8 – Cobi Brand

Cobi’s a very bright, funny and bubbly character who brightens up every training session and match. Cobi’s a good passer, tough tackler and a confident player, who’s been working hard in training to develop his 1v1 defending skills and awareness.

Under 9 – Charlie Lewis

Well done to Under 9 Charlie. Charlie has a 100% training and match attendance from December, with an improvement in concentration in both, alongside some excellent performances. Charlie is technically very good and shows good close ball control and dominating the 1v1.

Under 10 – George Jenkins

George has recently become a goalkeeper this season and has excelled. George impressed in the futsal tournament recently, while also training and playing for U11, showing the confidence and belief we have in him.

George also plays for Denbighshire schools, which is a proud achievement also over a small time. Congrats George and keep up the good work.

Under 11 – Rui Clarke-Phillips

Rui enjoyed a fantastic December, scoring goals and creating them for fun. His energy and funny personality are a massive asset to the team both on and off the pitch and this, along with his direct and skilful attacking play make him a key part of the team.

His rocket left foot can see him score goals from all over the pitch, and his combination play in recent weeks has been fantastic, showing he is taking on new information really well. Well done Rui! Keep up the good work!

Under 12 – Jakub Slosarczyk

Jakub has been outstanding of late and thoroughly deserves player of the month for December. He has really taken on recent IDP meetings and is committed to working on them.

He’s scored some fantastic goals in December, both in the Super6 and also in the Futsal Programme. The fact that Jakub has won two of the last three player of the month awards shows how well he is doing and deserves to be recognised.

Under 13 – Seb Taylor

Seb has had not only a very good December, but a good few months in terms of Individual Player Development. Seb always shows a great attitude and appliance in training. He has added communication to his game, giving team-mates specific information and encouragement which is very pleasing to see/hear.
He’s very good as a ball playing centre-back or holding midfielder with an eye for a split pass.
Under 14 – Ellis Bateman
Ellis has been extremely consistent in his performances and is a very committed individual. Ellis rarely misses training and his attitude is fantastic, along with being an extremely versatile player and happy to play anywhere.
Under 15 – Will Griffith
Will has settled in really well and has been in great form since signing for us in early December.
Will’s got electric pace, has excellent dribbling skills and dominates 1v1s. He’s also been working hard on developing his decision-making and positioning.
Under 16 – Regan Jones
Regan continues to impress and improve for our oldest Academy age group. He shows fantastic leadership qualities, a worthy captain of our Under 16s, and demands high standards from himself and others.
Under 19 – Harry Bower
December has proven to be a very good month for Harry. Confirmation of an England squad place, which is another brilliant achievement, with a game against Australia planned later this month, coupled with some eye-catching performances for our Performance Phase and FC Oswestry Town on a weekend, which has seen Harry score two against Vauxhall Motors and two against Alsager Town.

It’s been a fantastic year for our Academy, and a great experience for our youngsters to face some of the best opposition in world football.
The club is really growing and our football provision is improving all the time. We are excited to see what 2019 will bring and how we can improve further.
