Yesterday (January 9, 2018) saw a Performance Phase squad of 16 welcome Coleg Cambria to Park Hall, in the ECFA Category 1 league, writes Steve Benyon.
Fielding a completely different side to that of the reverse tie earlier on in the season, the players looked sharp in the warm-up and certainly took this into the game, making a very bright start and scoring a well worked goal through Harry Bower.
Once again however we conceded from a well-worked set-play to bring the visitors back level, but we responded well through a Liam Parry penalty. We were, however, unable to convert the numerous chances we created and we went into the break 2-1 up.
The second half started pretty much the same, playing some eye-catching football, but we were dealt a blow when a mistake led to a penalty, which was scored calmly by the visitors to bring the score level again.
The boys used this to motivate themselves to search for the all-important winner, and we managed to do this through a well timed finish from Beau Cornish after a great through ball from Ethan Short, to see us run out deserved 3-2 winners.
We now focus our attention on our Welsh Premier League Development home game on Sunday versus Llandudno with 6pm kick-off, before two away trips next Wednesday.
