After a wait of almost 100 years, former Oswestry Town defender, Charlie Parry, has finally received a headstone.
Thanks to work by the Everton Football Club Heritage Society, the life of the former Wales international, who was also a member of the first Everton team to win the Football League Championship in 1890/91, was celebrated in a commemoration event at Oswestry Town Cemetery last week.
Raised in the town, Parry also represented Chester St. Oswald’s, Liverpool Caledonian, Newtown and Aberystwyth Town during his playing career, winning the Welsh Cup with the latter in 1900.
